ASC Announces 2024 Scholarship Recipients
May 2, 2024 – Alexandria, VA – Today the Adhesive and Sealant Council (ASC) announced the recipients of its Rusty Thompson Memorial Scholarships for the Spring 2024 academic semester. The scholarships were awarded last month to five outstanding students pursuing related science and business degrees, totaling $8,000.
The scholarship program was established in 2017 and renamed in 2024 in memory of Rusty Thompson, former President of Evans Adhesive, beloved ASC Board member, and a friend and mentor to many in the adhesives industry. Thompson passed away in early 2024. He created the scholarship program originally in memory of a well-known pressure sensitive scientist, Gene Simmons.
The 2024 Rusty Thompson Memorial Scholarship recipients are:
Jackson Moffitt
Jackson is a senior pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Capri Norris
Capri is a senior pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering at Pennsylvania State University.
Steven Han
Steven is a junior pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science at New York University.
Elizabeth Vrana
Elizabeth is a senior pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry at The Ohio State University.
Shelley Bradshaw
Shelley is a senior pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering at The Ohio State University.
“On behalf of the ASC Board of Directors, congratulations to the 2024 recipients,” said ASC President Bill Allmond. “These recipients truly stood out for their remarkable achievements inside and outside of the classroom,” he said. “We encourage each of them to pursue a career in adhesives and sealants after graduation and put their knowledge and skills toward the next great innovation in adhesive development.”
