New Bostik, Dow, and Nordson Collaboration on Packaging Adhesive With 80% Renewable Ingredients
Bostik reports that Bostik, Dow and Nordson have collaborated on a new adhesive solution, under the brand name Kizen™ LIME, for End of Line packaging that is helping reduce pressure on fossil resources. It is designed for recyclable paper/cardboard packing the Fast Moving Consumer Goods.
Kizen™ LIME, an innovative, and proprietary formulation made with a minimum of 80% renewable ingredients (with a combination of bio-based materials certified by EN 16640:2017 and bio-circular materials certified by ISCC PLUS) provides high performances in mileage, adhesion and energy savings, according to the company.
AFFINITY™ RE from Dow has been instrumental in enabling Kizen™ LIME to reach almost 100% carbon footprint avoidance when including biogenic carbon uptake, owing to an attractive by-product from food industry. Kizen™ fulfills the most demanding requirements of Fast-Moving Consumer Goods for adhesives. It can contribute to lowering carbon footprint of our Customers, while still complying with the most advanced safety standards and best in class efficiency for brand owners and industrial partners.
Applied at low temperature with the ProBlue™ Flex Melters from Nordson, Kizen™ LIME provides additional significant energy and costs savings compared to other adhesives, in particular conventional fully fossil-based adhesives used with former melter generations. Nordson Adhesive Dispensing Systems are known for their ultra-precise dispensing accuracy, reliability and efficiency, making them essential for automatic packaging lines. Key products include the ProBlue Flex Melter and MiniBlue II Slim Applicators, both of which are engineered for longevity, they reduce downtime and maintenance costs. Customers who integrate advanced Nordson technologies into their packaging line increase their efficiency and support their sustainability goals to reduce environmental impacts.
