ASC is working to create a symbol that will enable engineers to graphically represent an adhesive in computer-aided design (CAD) drawings (currently designers must incorporate comments on an adhesive in the "notes" section of their drawings). The symbol is modeled after the ANSI weld symbol and features similar elements. ASC is working with ASTM International, one of the largest voluntary standards development organizations in the world, to develop a new internationally recognized standard, which the Council feels will increase its acceptance by the design-engineering community worldwide. Status:
Latest Draft Standard (pending review/approval by ASTM D14 Cmte) (Updated 5/08) ASTM Press Release 5/24/07
